Donnajp has been married for over 30 years and has been a clergy wife her entire married life. She has three adult children, three grandsons (and counting). She has served in ministry in various capacities -- including chairing the Hadassah Conference for Pastors' Wives, missionary to India, and she has a speaking ministry also.
Donna's passion is serving, and she is particularly interested in the effect of the pastorate on clergy wives and their children. To that end, she has conducted research on pastors' wives and published the results in her doctoral dissertation, resulting in the first ever scholarly research on African American pastors' wives. In additon, Donna is a clinical social worker and educator and finds ample opportunity to lift the name of Jesus Christ in these secular positions as well. She can be reached by private message on our message boards.
Janeen and her husband, Lloyd, have been married for 30+ years. Lloyd has been a pastor for 35 years, having obtained his M. Div from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wisconsin in 1975. Members of the Biblically-conservative Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, they have served together in several congregations in Michigan, South Dakota and Wyoming.
Janeen graduated from Michigan State University in 1976 with a BSW with emphasis on adolescent psychology and several minors and cognates including music, education and criminal justice. Post graduate studies included juvenile justice and counseling. She formerly served as a probation officer, protective services worker and full-time substitute teacher.
Mother of three sons, Martin, Peter, and Aaron, she home schooled the boys through the 12th grade. They all attend(ed) Black Hills State University. Martin and Peter both married during the summer/fall of 2009; the first grandchild was born in late August!
Janeen especially enjoys liturgical church music and has been a church organist for over 30 years. She also enjoys working with teens and young adults and has taught high school/college level Bible classes since before being married and has been involved in women's ministry for most of her married life. In 2006 she launched and now maintains the congregation's website, a feat for someone who considers herself cyber-challenged.
In addition to music, Janeen's special gifts in assisting her husband in ministry are in information, referral and resource services in areas as diverse as psychology, counseling and law, pharmaceutical knowledge, and....veterinary skills. She considers her special spiritual gift to be that of discernment. Like so many others here, Janeen came to the Fishbowl in late 2006 during an especially difficult and painful time in ministry involving a congregation that was a part of a two-point parish at the time.
Janeen and Lloyd have been involved in outreach to community youth through 4-H for 15 years and have a very active club with members involved in multiple project areas including (but not limited to) horses and other large and small livestock, visual arts, home living skills, textiles and sewing, and community service. A 4-H wood science group meets in the parsonage garage every week.
Although they live in a parsonage next to the church, they also daily maintain a small ranch just outside of town, keeping mules, horses and goats. They enjoy training, riding, and driving the horses and mules and especially like trail riding in the beautiful Black Hills.
"Your Word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path." Psalm 119:105
Our Message Board is open to any pastor's wife who has registered. This makes for a safe place to "be ourselves" without judgment. An online message board works like this: One person types a question, situation, or statement. Other members of the Board can read it and reply under what the previous person has written. Most posts receive numerous replies; some long some short.
